本书分为6章共16个单元，每个单元由3篇课文组成，课文中包含词汇、课文注释、练习等环节，每个单元最后还提供课外练习材料。书中介绍了发动机、底盘、车身、电气设备等四大部分的结构与原理。其具体内容包括：汽车基本结构、内燃机基本结构、曲柄连杆机构、配气机构、冷却系统、润滑系统、燃油供给系统、点火系统、起动系、传动系统、自动变速器、悬架及转向系统、制动系统、车身结构、电源系统、仪表板及指示灯、空调系统、ITS、GPS、安全气囊等，并简要介绍了故障自诊断以及检测诊断设备等内容。



        本书内容安排合理，条理清晰，符合高等职业教育要求和岗位工作需要，适合作为高等职业院校汽车检测与维修等相关专业的汽车专业英语教材，也可作为相关行业的岗位培训用书或自学用书，同时可供汽车维修人员学习参考。

        随着我国汽车工业的发展和汽车保有量的迅猛增长，我国的汽车工业逐渐与国际接轨，汽车检测与维修涉及大量的国外汽车信息及资料，这就需要从业人员了解、精通、掌握汽车专业通用语言——汽车专业英语。



        《汽车专业英语》的编写以汽车售后服务行业职业岗位要求为目标，以教育部《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》（试行）和《高等职业教育汽车运用与维修技术专业领域技能型紧缺人才培养指导方案》为依据，以“学生主体，就业导向，企业参与，能力本位”为指导思想，突出校企合作、工学结合、产学结合，提高学习者的英语实践能力。



        本书内容编排以实用为原则，贴近企业实际，突出教学中“学生主体、教师主导”原则。在提倡学生自主学习的同时，促使教师认真进行课堂讲解，组织好课堂演练并引导学生学以致用。本书共6章，分为16个单元，每个单元由3篇课文组成，单元最后还提供学生课外练习的材料。全书主要介绍了发动机、底盘、车身、电气设备四大部分的结构与原理，具体内容包括汽车基本结构、内燃机、曲柄连杆机构、配气机构、冷却系统、润滑系统、燃油供给系统、点火系统、起动系、传动系统、自动传动系统、悬架及转向系统、制动系统、车身结构、电源系统、仪表板及指示灯、空调系统、ITS、GPS、安全气囊等；最后还简要介绍了故障自诊断以及检测诊断设备等内容。其中汽车基本结构部分主要介绍汽车的基本组成、汽车发展以及未来汽车和自动驾驶汽车；内燃机部分主要介绍发动机的分类、工作原理和基本组成；曲柄连杆机构和配气机构部分主要介绍汽缸、曲轴、活塞、连杆、气门组以及气门传动组等内容；冷却系和润滑系部分主要介绍冷却和润滑系统的结构、原理及故障诊断；燃油供给系统部分主要介绍汽油机和柴油机燃油供给系统的结构与原理；点火系和起动系部分主要介绍点火系和起动系的结构与原理；传动系统部分主要介绍离合器、手动变速器、传动轴及双离合器工作原理；自动传动系统部分主要介绍自动变速器结构原理、无级变速器结构原理以及变速器的维修；悬架及转向系统部分主要介绍转向系统的类型和结构、悬架系统以及电控悬架系统；制动系统部分主要介绍常规制动系统、ABS以及制动系维护；车身部分主要介绍车身结构及要求、被动安全系统以及车身维修；电源系统部分主要介绍汽车电池、充电系统以及充电系统的检测与诊断；仪表板及指示灯部分主要介绍汽车仪表板、汽车电子仪表板以及仪表指示灯；车身电气部分主要介绍空调系统、ITS、GPS及安全气囊；最后还介绍汽车故障诊断系统等知识。



        本书材料选自国外的专业书刊、修理企业的外文资料、国外的维修手册、国内各大院校的汽车专业英语教材，以及网上有关汽车的最新技术资料。为便于学习，本书在课后附有词汇表、重点和难点句子的注释、课后练习。
