本书为“一带一路”铁道运输系列英文教材之一，以我国高速铁路和普速铁路网发展为背景，从铁路客运经营管理体制、经营理念及运输组织实践出发，系统介绍了铁路旅客运输理论体系。其主要内容包括概述、铁路旅客运输需求及市场调查、铁路客流计划、铁路旅客列车开行方案、铁路旅客列车运行方案、铁路旅客运输日常工作组织与调度、铁路票额管理与客票销售、铁路客运站工作组织、铁路旅客列车乘务工作组织、铁路旅客联合运输、铁路旅客运输服务质量管理、铁路旅客运输应急管理、铁路旅客运输信息化等13章内容，覆盖了正常条件下各层面和环节的铁路客运组织、管理理论与方法及非正常条件下铁路客运的应急策略等。

With the largescale construction and successful operation of highspeed railway, railway passenger transportation system of China has become the world leader in terms of technical level, transportation organization and operation management. Highspeed railway of China to the world is not only the need of macroeconomic strategic layout, but also the responsibility of railway development and service to the whole society. This textbook can be used for undergraduates and masters of railway transportation for running schools abroad, which is also applicable to the external training of all kinds of railway transportation professional technical personnel and be the reference use of technical personnel.
This textbook aims to comprehensively reflect the basic theory and application of railway passenger transportation organization, management and operation. On the basis of referring to domestic and foreign books, special studies and management specifications, the theoretical system of railway passenger transportation is systematically introduced. According to the levels of railway passenger transportation organization and operation management, this book has sorted out 13 chapters including introduction, railway passenger transportation demand and market survey, railway passenger flow plan, passenger train service plan, railway passenger train operation plan and daily work organization and dispatching of railway passenger transportation, railway passenger tickets distribution and passenger transportation tariff management, work organization of railway passenger stations, crew work organization of railway passenger train, intermodal transportation of railway passengers, quality management of railway passenger service, emergency management of railway passenger transportation and informationization of railway passenger transportation. The following features should be highlighted in the process of writing:
1. Advancement. Great changes have taken place in the theory and practice of operation concept, technical equipment, transportation organization and service management of railway passenger transportation. This textbook reflects this as much as possible, such as highlighting the ideas and theories of passenger transportation product design, strengthening the dynamic process of passenger transportation organization and the relationship between business decision and market interaction.
2. Systematicness. The compilation purpose of the textbook is to systematically reflect the regularity of railway passenger transportation organization, operation and management, for example, from research demand, planning, product design to transportation organization and implementation; from the transportation organization of weekdays and peak period to emergency handling under emergencies; from the transportation service management to the background information control of the back office, etc.
3. Theoretical. Combined with the development characteristics of railway passenger transportation information, transportation organization and service mode, and the research results of railway passenger transportation organization methods and technologies, this textbook establishes the theoretical system of passenger transportation organization, operation and management including the normalspeed railway and highspeed railway based on the traditional operation organization and management theory.
4. Practicality. Based on the characteristics of the development of railway passenger transportation in China, this textbook achieves the close combination of theory and practice through authors' indepth practical research and discussion.
This textbook is edited by Junfang Jia and Baoming Han, Beijing Jiaotong University. 贾俊芳，北京交通大学交通运输学院副教授，从事铁路旅客运输方面的教学与科研工作 ，带领铁路旅客运输教学团队，在教材编写、课程建设、科学研究、试验平台建设等成绩突出，先后主持完成研究原铁道部、国家铁路局、铁路局、世行等领域的科研项目近30项，主编出版《铁路旅客运输》《旅客运输》《铁路旅客运营管理》《城市轨道交通客运服务管理》《公关与礼仪》等多部教材。韩宝明，男，博士，北京交通大学交通运输学院教授，博士生导师，北京《都市快轨交通》杂志社社长，中国城市轨道交通协会专家和学术委员会秘书长。主要研究方向包括运输组织现代化，高速铁路运输组织，城市轨道交通运营管理等，是交通运输学院高速与重载方向的学科责任教授。近年来在高速铁路、城市轨道交通枢纽运输组织等领域主持并参与了近50项科研课题，出版《高速铁路概论》《铁路客运专线换乘枢纽交通设计理论与方法》等多部著作，创办《Urban Rail Transit》英文期刊并担任主编。
